  • The AU decides to erect monument to remember former leaders of Ethiopia Posted on 05 July 2017

    The African Union has decided to erect monuments for former Ethiopian leaders, Emperor Haileselassie and the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi in honour of their contributions to former Organization of the African Unity and the present AU. The decision was made on 04 July 2017 at the closing ceremony of the 29th AU Summit held at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa.

     The leaders of AU have specially highlighted role of emperor Haileselassie in the establishment of the then OAU and in the significant and historic roles he played in struggle to the process of decolonisation, independent and pan Africanism, which made the contemporary continent of Africa strong and independent.
